Look at all the new crap! I made a new header, because I was bored. I changed the Rufus picture a little, because I was bored. I cleaned up some things. That's right, because I was bored. I also made a new COTW banner. I think its spiffy. I tried to organize some of the crap in the side bar, but I don't know how well that went. Last but certainly not least, I wiped off the tag board. There was some spittle and that's just..... EWWWWW. Oh wait. One more thing. I made some craptastic buttons that you can use to link to me if you want to. Just please, save them on your computer. Direct link to ANYTHING on this blog & I will hurt you. You have been warned.

Lately, I've become amazingly homesick. I get this way every once in a while, but this time its been really bad. I want to move back to Texas in the worst of ways. Sure, Vegas is fine for a vacation or even if you are a snowbird, but living here...... it sucks festering monkey ass.
The food here, sucks. Museums & zoos, they don't exist. OK, so there is a zoo, but its really more like a prison. I think my parent's house is bigger than the zoo here. We have exhibits, at major casinos. So they dicate what's there & then I have to pay $20 for a very small exhibit with a crappy audio tour. Live music? Sure, if you count lounge acts. The only one I really care to see is Richard Cheese & Lounge Against the Machine. They are a riot.
Here is a list of places I miss.
¤Ft. Worth Museum of Science & History - I've been known to spend countless hours in here even though most of the displays have been there since I was a kid.
¤Fort Worth Zoo - I love this place. Best zoo in Texas I'd say.
¤Dallas Zoo - I like this one too, but prefer Ft. Worth.
¤State Fair of Texas - If you are ever in Texas during the fair, you HAVE to go. The last time I went, it was raining & I still walked all over the place.
¤Czech Stop - The kolaches are amazing. Its in the middle of nowhere really, but on the highway between Dallas & Austin. The bathrooms are super clean so its A+++ in my book.
¤Salt Lick - The best BBQ. This is a wonderful place. Make sure you know how to read directions because you are going to need that valuable skill to get to this joint. And don't expect a cozy table for two in the corner. You are going to sit at a picnic table with people you don't know & like it dammit!
¤El Fenix - Wednesday night is cheese enchilada night. Its some ridiculously cheap price. I can't remember exactly.
¤Kerbey Lane - A healthy type joint in Austin. The omelettes are the best! I'm particularly fond of the spinach, mushroom & artichoke one (with mozzarella cheese & green chili sour cream sauce, of course).
¤Trudy's - I went there again when I was back in Texas a few years ago. The food is decent (it use to be great), but still worth going if you ask me. Make sure you go to the one on 30th Street.
¤Amy's Ice Cream - Quite possibly the best ice cream in existance. No really. It is. My favorite was white russian, but apparently they don't have that one anymore. I also like Mexican vanilla. My favorite location? The one on Lamar.
¤Ruta Maya - The coffee is good. They have outside seating. There is also a gay club across the street, Oil Can Harry's. Being that Ruta Maya is open after the bars close, we use to sit on the patio & try to guess who was gay & who wasn't (there are MANY bars in this area). Its not a malicious game, but fun none the less. You'd think two straight women would be masters of this, but we weren't.
¤Flipnotics - Like I said before, sit on the patio, shut your trap, drink your coffee & watch the world go by. You'll thank yourself later.
¤County Line Barbecue - Go to the one out on Bee Caves Road. Sit on the patio. Its on the top of a hill & the view is beautiful (well, it use to be anyway).
And of course I miss my family (save for the human formerly known as my father) terribly. Hopefully I can get back to where I belong before too long. Kids, you think you want to move away from home, but once your gone, it sucks. Well, for me anyway. So make sure you think that decision through completely before you make that leap.

Well, I think its time to change things around here. I have no idea what I am going to do yet, but I'm sure I'll figure something out. So if you visit & find things a little off, that's why.
Today is my "little" brother's birthday. Big birthday night entertainment.... bingo. heh Maybe he'll win so he can come visit.

My brother a couple years ago at Bally's
Other than that, the day has been wasted. I haven't been feeling well & I slept ALL day. When I got up I made myself something to eat & a pot of coffee. I found some gift bags of Starbucks someone had given me. I'm not a big fan of Starbucks, but it will do in a pinch. And well, I'm in a pinch. Important Update: There is a God & he/she is good! I found another brick of Gavalia in the back of the cabinet! YES!
Starbucks use to be soooo much better. That was before they became the evil empire they are today. They were just a small empire then. That's when mom went to visit her best friend in Washington state. When she came back, she brought with her the most heavenly coffee I had ever tasted. Slowly, as they amassed more stores, the coffee went downhill. Now days, I'll only touch Starbucks if I have no other alternative.
Of course I much prefer the coffee of places I can't get to. Like Ruta Maya or Flipnotics (not only do that have coffee, but groovy clothes in the downstairs section). Both are in Austin. I first went to Flipnotics looking for clothes. The first time I had coffee there was when I went to see Troy play. If you ever get there, the outside seating is great. Sit there, drink you coffee & just take in the sights. You'll be glad you did.
On the topic of Austin. There was a place down on S. Congress that had the BEST pair of 50's type frames in the window. I always wanted to see how much they were, but everytime we ever went there, the damn place was closed. I wanted those sooooo bad. I'd just stare at them through the window like a little kid looking at a puppy. I've tried since then to find something similar, but haven't had any luck.

Just what in the hell is this world coming to? Some guy shot an attorney in California while camera crews were present. You can read about that here.
This really pisses me off. People continually bitch that items from history are slowly disappearing. That all these precious items will be lost by the time our children's children are grown. Some of the people that are saying these things work for government agencies in various countries. Then 7 Egyptian officials (one of them a senior official) were arrested for trying to sell a mummy to an undercover cop. It was the third case in a year involving government types. It galls me to no end.
Its not like this only happens in Egypt. It happens here too. Underhanded bastards who are stealing out heritage out from under our noses can get jobs. But decent people are out of work. Will someone please explain this to me?
Remember what I said the other day about trying to make a bad situation less bad? Well this goes with that. People, no matter how much you hate your job, be happy you have one. There are people that can't even feed their families. I grew up like that. A lot of times we didn't have money. If it weren't for my grandparents, we wouldn't have had food during those times. Not to sound preachy or cliché, but be thankful for what you have.

October 31st in Nevada is not only halloween, its also Nevada Day. They say it means something important, but we all know it just means everything is closed other than casinos & retail type things. No school, no banks & no court dates. So you can party your ass off the night before halloween, wake up in a drunken stupor & throw on the first thing you find the next morning. All the while passing it off as a halloween costume. Yeah, that's right, I'm a drunk, only for halloween of course.

I digress. Since I no longer participate in halloween festivities other than decorating my craptastic apartment, I thought I'd share what I will be doing with my halloween night. Being the nerd that I am, I will of course be on the computer. However, tonight's putzing will have a halloween theme. With that in mind, I will know share some links with you for your putzing pleasure.

Ghost stories & such
¤GhostWatch at Irelandseye - "A young linen worker, named Helena Blunden, died after a tragic fall in a Belfast mill in 1912. There are many people who believe she still haunts the mill today."
¤GhostWatcher - June thinks her joint is haunted. Impressive cam set up. Shane & I use to spend hours on this damn thing.

Don't forget, if you are near Austin, TX..... tomorrow, 11/1 Troy is at Bigsby's (515 E. 6th St.) from 8p - 11p. Special guests this go round are Barry "Frosty" Smith (Soulhat & others) on drums, Bruce Salmon (Joe Rockhead & Ugly Americans) on keys & Dave Lucas on bass.

Its finally getting cool outside. Big YAY! on that one. Although, it is rather cool for this time of year. I mean, I actually had to wear a jacket today. Weird.
I didn't get much sleep last night. The wind was blowing about 30 mph most of the night. When that happens, my bedroom window is constanly assaulted my the militant tree branch that's a little too close to the building. I've complained until I'm blue in the face about the damn thing, but nothing has ever been done about it. So I was awake most of the night listening to something akin to nails on a chalk board. I finally gave up & came back into the living room to screw around on here.
Somewhere around 6 this morning I finally managed to get to sleep. I was back up at 9am. Stumbled to the kitchen to make coffee. Much to my horror, I used the last of my Gevalia this morning. I am now panic stricken & distraught. Until I can get my grubby little paws on some more, I am going to have to stoop to the level of Folgers or something equally as awful. It sucks to be me today.

Just in case anyone reading this is from or around Austin, I thought I would post this. You really should go check him out. He's great! By the way, I've decided to make anything by Troy the official music of Less Than Useless. That's the beauty of owning the joint. I can do that.
Hi --

I'm warning you now.... this is not a hearts & flowers entry. It will contain nasty language. Why? because I'm entirely too pissed off to watch it. If this bothers you, then don't read it. I'm not going to make any apologies. I'm madder than a wet hen people.
My brother-in-law & sister cared for Shane all the time he was sick. They have 4 kids of their own. My BIL worked, my sister stayed home for the most part & took care of Shane & the kids. Shane got a monthly social security check, but most of the time it wouldn't cover all his medications. On occasion, they would have to borrow money. Shane's scripts ran upwards of $1,200 a month. Its understandable. One little thing comes up & the whole budget is screwed.
One of these times, they asked Shane's older brother for help. They needed $100 to cover everything Shane needed that month. They guy threw a fucking fit. He said he had his own family to care for & that Shane would have to find the money himself. You dumb son of a bitch, your brother is dying how in the hell is he suppose to find the money? Was he suppose to pull it out of his ass? No one in that fucking family ever wanted to help. They only bothered to show up & care when they thought Shane wasn't going to make it out of the hospital.
Now Shane is gone. He had a life insurance policy. Luckily, it was still in force at the time of his death. The only problem, there were no beneficiaries on file. So that means that the policy will be split between the brother that helped him with everything & the one that was too selfish to up $100 for the medication that kept him alive.
So, this charming brother calls the other up & offers to pay for Shane's headstone. Well that's mighty white of ya there Skippy. He never wanted to even be around Shane because of his piercings & tattoos. He thought that made Shane lower than him. But as soon as he finds out there is money involved, apparently Shane was the best brother on earth. He's a scum sucking piece of shit & I hope he burns in hell. This guy is a card carrying member of the Benevolent Order Of Assholes.
The best part of the deal. This ass wipe is studying to be a preacher. He's married to a preacher's daughter. He never even visits my sister & brother-in-law, but now he's calling them three times a day to see if the insurance company has released the checks yet. Who in their right mind can live with themselves for doing something like that? Mom & I were discussing it earlier & neither of us could keep that money. Its not right. Not after everything they did for Shane. They basically lost everything. They had to move in with my parents not long before Shane passed because the finances were so bad. So in the end, they, with the help of my mom, were taking care of Shane. No one else cared. I don't even think anyone called him on his birthday in June.
I bet they shit themselves when they saw Shane lying there with blue hair & all his piercings. They also disn't bury him in a suit. That wasn't Shane. He went to his resting place in a t-shirt & Sponge Bob boxers. The way he wanted it.
I hope that son of a bitch chokes on that money. You shouldn't wish things like that on anyone, but I am. Maybe that makes me a bad person. At least if he chokes on that damn money it will be much less painful for him than if I get my hands on him. I'll derive great pleasure from pulling his tiny little balls through his nostrils with a rusty coathanger.

Look, our fearless leader *cough* has his own blog. Somehow I suspect he isn't the one doing the work though.
Just in time for halloween, here's a game that continually pisses me off. Halloween Carnival.
No word for today. I don't feel like it.
